An Impossible Request

The disturbing dream of a disgruntled despot sets the stage for one of the most dramatic chapters in all the Bible. From it comes an impossible request that leads to a miraculous contest between human and divine power. The resulting revelation of God's power (spoiler alert: God wins!) exposes the shallow veneer covering the world power of Babylon. That peeling back of the true Babylon stirred the vision of Jewish exiles to remain faithful to Yahweh, in the same way it can do for us today.
