As the church responds to COVID, large questions loom about the future of the church. What will the church look like? A US News and World Report article (7/2/20) asked, Will pandemic related closures hasten the slide of in-person worship--a trend that has some worried about the survival of faith in public life? While virtual worship has the potential to expand the church’s outreach, will it reshape and redefine the meaning of church? Will something be lost and irretrievable for the next generation? As we head back inside this Sunday, it seemed like the right time to ask, Why Church? What are the definitions and patterns of the Biblical church that can anchor us through change?
