Isn't Christianity Homophobic?

There is no doubt that in the last decade or so there has been a dramatic shift in regards to our culture’s acceptance of homosexuality. Increasingly, Christians find themselves being accused of bigotry and hate speech and have been told they are on the “wrong side of history.” Have Christians been in the wrong? What does the Bible actually say about homosexuality? How should Christians treat those in the LGBTQ community?
