The Gift of Tongues and Interpretation

Of all the spiritual gifts, there is no doubt that the gift of tongues is by far the most controversial and the most confusing. This is true even though we have more information about this gift than most of the others. It is mentioned three times in the book of Acts, Paul devotes an entire chapter to it (1 Corinthians 14), and yet we still struggle. Perhaps we struggle because we have seen this gift misused or abused in the church. Maybe we struggle because it seems weird and a little "out there." Or maybe we struggle because we haven’t taken the time to study it in the scriptures in order to understand it.
