How Does God's Wisdom Grow Us Up?

Our first dive into 1 Corinthians sent us into a collision course between the cross and the world.  Jesus' loving submission to a shameful death continues to crush the wisdom of the world, which tries to tell us wealth, intellectual superiority, or living morally are the ways of giving our lives significance.  The wisdom of God only begins to penetrate our hearts when we identify with the cross by recognizing our own guilt and shame.  Paul's collision course continues into chapter 2 as he describes his less than impressive preaching. Yet his dependence on the Spirit opens up the pathway to God's secret wisdom --  a wisdom that will grow and mature us.
