Movie trailers prepare you for the release of a new movie. They build anticipation through a partial unveiling. As to the actual movie itself--some fulfill while others disappoint. The oracles, parables, and word-pictures from the Old Testament prophets were something akin to movie trailers. They prepared the world for the coming of its true King--the Messiah. The New Testament writers went to great lengths to connect the dots, claiming Jesus fulfilled the words of the prophets. This is the meaning behind our text from Matthew and it reveals why Jesus is the Humble King our hearts have always longed for.
