Marriage, A Living Metaphor of the Gospel Life
Speaker: Rich Hendricks Series: Ephesians: There is More Passage: Ephesians 5:21–33
Have you ever played one of those word association games where someone says a word and you say the first thing that comes to mind? Well, what's the first thing you think of when you hear the word "submission" or "headship"? They are two buzzwords in the Christian community that invite confusion and misunderstanding.
As we continue our journey through Ephesians, Paul is instructing the church on how they are to live out this new humanity created by the Gospel. The Gospel is a story of love and grace, of humility and sacrifice. Paul uses marriage as his teaching tool, pointing us to the unique roles men and women have in the marriage relationship. Marriage is a living metaphor, of this new gospel life reflecting the beauty of God’s redemptive plan. In the midst of his instruction, the words submission and headship do come up. However, they may not be what you think.
