If you spend any time on social media or Pinterest, you will most likely come across a before and after picture. It might be of a home remodel project, a landscape design, or something else like that. The thing that makes a before and after picture powerful is the contrast between the two images. We don’t know how good something is until we have seen how bad it was before. In Ephesians 2, Paul paints a picture of what our lives were like before Christ, but then he transitions and describes what we are like after Christ. In doing so, Paul highlights the beauty and the power of the gospel and what it means for us both for eternity and for the here and now.
