When you read through the gospels, one of the things you discover is that Jesus interacted with all kinds of people. He spoke with those who were rich and those who were poor. He spoke with the religious and the irreligious. He spoke with those who seemingly had it all together and he spoke with those who were in desperate situations. One of the most heart-wrenching but powerful conversations Jesus had was with a desperate dad whose son was being tormented by an evil spirit. The disciples tried to deal with it, but failed. Disheartened and afraid, the dad pleaded with Jesus, “If you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”
