Is it really more blessed to give than receive?

The church talks either way too much about financial giving or not at all. With the proliferation of prosperity preachers, we are tempted to never talk about it. On the other side, silence robs us of a very tangible way to partner with others to see God’s Kingdom grow. Paul and the Philippian church bring some sense back to the conversation. They model for us a non-manipulative, value-shared generosity that expresses both mutual friendship and love for the gospel. This kind of giving yields freedom, joy, and blessing to the giver and does no damage to Jesus’ reputation.
