The Power of Influence

Proverbs 1:8-19 

Have you have thought about the power of influence? When you look at the definition of the word influence, you see that power is at the heart of it. We live in a world where there are many competing voices trying to influence us. We even see a whole new genre of marketing in which companies use social media “influencers” to help sell their products. In Proverbs 1:8-19, we see a classic example of two competing groups of influencers. One group is a young man’s parents and the other group is a foolish, evil set of peers. One group represents wisdom that leads to life, and the other represents foolishness and evil which lead to destruction.
