Luke 22:39-53
Have you ever had to face a really difficult situation that you knew was going to involve intense physical or emotional pain, and in that moment everything within you wanted to get out of it? Most of us have had moments like this, to varying degrees, in our lives. In this passage, we see that Jesus himself is in a situation like this. He is in the Garden of Gethsemane. He knows that Judas has betrayed him, and he knows that the cross is just around the corner. Jesus is struggling--his humanity is on full display, but he presses into his Father through prayer. As a result, he finds the strength and the power he needs to remain faithful.
