Faith To Forgive

Speaker: Series: Luke - The Gospel For Everyone Passage: Luke 17:1–10

In his book Mere Christianity, C. S. Lewis wrote, “Everyone says forgiveness is a lovely idea until they have something to forgive...” On the surface, forgiving others sounds like a good idea. We certainly expect others to forgive us when we mess up, but when we are the ones who have been wronged, extending forgiveness is often harder than we think. In Luke 17, Jesus addresses the topic of forgiveness with his disciples and it is obvious from their response that they are worried that they can’t live up to his standard. As we will see, Jesus doesn’t let them off the hook. Instead, he challenges them to obey, even when it’s hard.
