The Happiness You Pursue
November 17, 2019 Speaker: Chris Martin Series: Luke - The Gospel For Everyone
Passage: Luke 12:13–21
"Life does not consist in an abundance of possessions." Jesus said this (Luke 12:15). It was not a new or radical statement. Similar sentiments have been expressed in other religions or by the world’s great teachers. The call for simplicity shows up today in a thousand different ways. Modern songs, movies, and literature seek to shift the center of happiness away from money to relationships; from possessions to time; from quantity to quality. There is much here to like for the follower of Jesus. And while Jesus’ words confirm active restraint from materialism, in the end His reason for doing so is radically different. That reason is what we want to explore in this message.
