What Happens When We Grow Bored With God
Speaker: Chris Martin Series: Judges Passage: Judges 1:1– 2:6
Not every book of the Bible ends like a Disney movie. For example, the book of Judges ends with the ominous description, “Everyone did what was right in their own eyes.” This was a time defined by spiritual compromise and half-hearted devotion. God’s people were enamored by their neighbors’ gods and grew bored with their own. Their leaders, the Judges, grew progressively worse. Violence and civil war took the nation to the brink of extinction. This is a story brimming with relevance for us today, not only in its astute diagnosis of what is wrong with our own culture, but also in steering our hearts to a place of real hope.
