As Christians, we maintain a dual citizenship. We are citizens of a nation on earth, and we are citizens of Heaven. We care about life here as well as the life to come. The tension of being caught between two worlds can leave Christians confused about how much to engage in the kingdoms of this world and politics. Yet where we live, and the days in which we live, are no surprise to God. Part of the Christians’ task of discipleship, therefore, is discerning how to best fulfill our responsibility where God has sovereignly placed us.
