Community Worshops

Community Workshops

3 SEMINAR WORKSHOPS
THURSDAY, APRIL 7
7-9PM

We live in a day and age where information is constant and immediate. So when you want to know how to install a ceiling fan, what do you do? You get on your smart phone or your computer and you search the internet for a video or a blog to show you how. Getting information is not the problem, but when was the last time you sat in a room with a group of people who were all concerned by the same issue or who all had the same questions? When was the last time you joined your neighbors and your friends as a community to learn together?

There will be three different topics to choose from all of which will be given by specialists in these fields.

  • Caring for Aging Parents
  • Stress Management and Anxiety
  • Adoption & Foster Care

Caring for Aging Parents

PAULA TALIAFERRO
CENTRAL OHIO AREA AGENCY ON AGING

Many adults are finding themselves today in the position of caring for their aging parents. This can feel overwhelming and even discouraging, and many of us don’t even know where to begin.

In this workshop, Paula Taliaferro will share with us information on long-term care, financial realities and legal tools for planning. She has a wealth of knowledge and will be able to answer questions and provide resources on this ever important topic.

Stress Management and Anxiety

DR. WILLIAM MALARKEY
ENDOCRINOLOGIST

Stress, worry, and anxiety are a constant reality for many of us today in 21st century America. These disorders have devastating effects on our bodies and our souls.

In this workshop, Dr. Malarkey will look at the effects of these disorders on our bodies and souls and answer the question: Does Jesus’ teaching in the Bible on anxiety and stress management mesh with today’s research in biomedical science?

Adoption & Foster Care

DOUG RIGGLE
ORPHAN WORLD RELIEF

Do you - whether you're a single adult or a married couple - have the desire to be a parent by adopting a child or sharing your home as a foster parent?

In this workshop Doug Riggle will share with you his personal experience of being adopted as a child, and his experience of adopting a son in his 30s as a single parent. Doug will talk you through the various options available to you and answer questions you may have. In addition to Doug, a representative from Bethany Christian Services, a local adoption and fostering agency, will be there to answer questions and provide resources.
