50+ Men's Retreat

50+ Men's Retreat

By age 50, most men have battle scars. Some of our dreams have materialized--many have not. Some men give up at 50, not at living, but at excelling. They are tired, worn out, disappointed, and they turn off the inner fire. They escape into hobbies or pastimes where non-failure is guaranteed. This is a great tragedy, for the years after 50 can be the most influential season of a man’s life. He has time, resources, experience, and life-wisdom. There are younger men, many who are fatherless, who would blossom under his mentorship. There is life after 50, and as men we need to envision it. We need the company of other battle-scarred men who can encourage us and help re-light the fire.

Doug Brown is a friend of Linworth who can help us in that pursuit. He is well regarded in Great Commission Churches for inspiring men to embrace their God-given calling. Doug was a pastor here at LRC in the 1980’s, and was also lead pastor at Lee’s Summit Community Church in Missouri. Doug now leads a thriving mission organization called E3. E3 is reaching into Asia by training leaders and planting churches.

We will meet in four sessions over a 24 hour period. The theme of the conference is “Well Done,” and will emerge from Jesus’ prayer in John 17. The goal is to stir the hearts of us “older men” to finish well and LIVE (not just leave) a legacy by experiencing and reproducing into other men four essential elements necessary to live a life well done.

Knowing God
Modeling the Way
Stretching of Faith
Anchored to the Word of God

We will gather at Deer Creek Lodge in Mt. Sterling, Ohio. The conference will begin Saturday October 3 at 1pm and end at noon on Sunday October 4.
