The Love Chapter

The "love chapter," as it is affectionately known, is heard at weddings and is used at many marriage conferences and counseling sessions. Is marriage really the intended purpose of this chapter, or is it something else? While it is completely appropriate for the above purposes, Paul is continuing to answer and instruct the Corinthians on how to conduct themselves towards one another. The church was finding itself confused in the use of spiritual gifts which was causing disunity. After Paul instructs them on the proper use of, and attitude towards, spiritual gifts, he drops an extra nugget at the end of Chapter 12. Paul tells them the gifts are good but “I will show you a still more excellent way.”
