How big is God? Are you ever tempted to shrink Him in your imagination? Some of us like to think of God as a friend or good buddy. But in the race to make Him "uber-relational," do we run the risk of domesticating and shrinking Him?
Others of us treat God with utmost reverence. But the distance that fear creates becomes an excuse to never open your heart. God shrinks in our imagination to a demanding master.
Surprisingly, fear of God and friendship with Him do not need to compete.
True worship, authentic prayer, and compassionate mission all hinge on seeing a "big God". A God who must be feared and never tamed, yet at the same time invites us into an intimate relationship.
