Feasts of Booths

Jesus' movement appears to be falling apart.  His blood brothers try to help by offering him a marketing strategy. They propose that another set of miracles in Jerusalem might turn the tide.  Yet John tells us that genuine faith has never taken root in them.

Jesus next attends a religious festival in Jerusalem where he is confronted by the religious leaders .   They cling to Moses and their meticulous law-keeping, yet genuine faith has never taken root in their lives either.

Unbelief ties these stories together as John traces the growing corporate resistance to Jesus.   The message for us is  to expose what lies beneath unbelief, so we can make sure we are not on the wrong side of real faith.
